One Room Challenge Fall 2021 | Week 2 |

Welcome to week two of the One Room Challenge! In this week’s post I’ll be sharing with you the biggest struggles with I’m currently faced with. If you haven’t checked out Week 1’s blog post, be sure to check that out because I’ve shared the current state of my main bedroom.

THE BIGGEST STRUGGLES

Deciding on a Light or Dark Room-

This has been biggest issue singlehandedly! If you’ve followed me since the beginning of my design career, you know I’ve always been obsessed with dark and moody spaces. I’m currently wanting to paint the wall white and go for a different look, but someone is holding me back. I’ve visited quite a few hotels and have fallen in love with sleeping in brighter room, the Hoxton Hotel LA certainly deepened my love for white walls! Truthfully, it’s just paint after all! So if I did paint the walls white and don’t love it, I can easily repaint it another color; but I really want to get the paint choice right on the first try!

Inventory is Scarce

I’ve been searching high and low for some of the best pieces of furniture for this room because it’s important to me that I seek key investment pieces this time around. But inventory is scarce and I feel that I’ll simply end up settling on the pieces I chose, which is why I’ll be keep my current bed! It’s still in great condition and is only about two years old, so it still has a great amount of life left. Although it has been shopping for this space has been challenging, I’ve had some great success sourcing SOME of the key pieces, so I won’t complain!

Finding a Good Looking Rug Without Backing

So you all know that I have carpet in my bedroom and don’t have any plans to rip it out because I’m a renter and that isn’t an option! Seeing that removing the carpet isn’t an option, I’ll find an area rug to place on top of it to really make the room come alive. When shopping for area rugs to put on top of the carpet, I always opt for a rug without any backing on the rug. That way the rug lays flatter on the floor and doesn’t look so bulky! But it’s hard to find affordable and stylish rugs but I’ll keep looking around because I don’t plan to splurge on a vintage rug without backing although it would look good in my space.

Have you faced any of these issues when designing a space in your home?

I’m headed to work on my space plans. But in the meantime, check out what some of the other featured designers are up to!
