Kicking Off My Outdoor Patio Makeover

As you may know, we moved into a new home a few months ago and finally have an outdoor space again! It was one of the reasons we even considered this place. The moment we got the keys I began planning the patio makeover with the help of my friends AllModern. I even began planning the makeover well before any landscaping had been done. -If you’re no stranger to outdoor furniture, you know that it all sells out so far, well before the temperature began to rise! But if you’re reading this, AllModern has you covered!

When I stepped onto the covered patio for the first time, I immediately envisioned myself curling up on some super plush furniture with the fire pit lit while sipping the most perfect cocktails. Fast forward to today, I now have a patio that is all that and more! Check out what the patio area looked like before any of the furniture was delivered and before the landscaping was completed.

BEFORE

It’s a pretty lovely space, right!? Since the patio is just off the living area, it feels like an extension of it. With that in mind, I knew I had to lean more into a neutral color palette so that when you're in the living area, the outdoor furniture doesn’t become the main focus. The furniture selection process wasn’t easy because AllModern has so many great pieces, but I managed to pick the perfect pieces for the space.

I was pretty surprised at how fast the furniture arrived! Within the week, everything had been delivered except for the sofa, which arrived the following week. The wait was well worth it because the sofa was delivered white glove and was assembled by the delivery guys. Once all the furniture arrived, I began scouring the internet for a new outdoor area rug, and I found this one on AllModern’s website. I had this rug in my living room three years ago but then purchased it from Wayfair. It was super affordable and such good quality and was the perfect rug to ground the space. (Please note the area rug isn’t a part of the sponsored product and was purchased out of pocket).

While I love every element of my new patio, the fire pit table is undoubtedly a favorite piece! It emits a significant amount of heat that warms the entire patio and serves as a table. You have to love those dual-purpose pieces, especially in small spaces like this one. It’s a perfect size (34”x34”) and allows me to move about the room without worrying about being too close to the fire when the pit is lit. (Please note that the fire pit table doesn’t come with a propane tank.)

AFTER

For reference, the fire pit is on a low setting.

Fire pit is on med/high setting.

While the patio is looking good so far, there are a few things that I plan to add to the space. I’m thinking about hanging outdoor curtains or some sort of retractable privacy screen, bistro lights to bring another layer of light to the outdoor area, and I want to find some cool wall-mounted plants. I already have the lights and was on the fence about adding them at first, but I certainly need them. But of course, be sure to stay tuned for future patio updates.
