One Room Challenge Fall 2021 | Week 7 |

We’re down to the last week of the One Room Challenge and it’s safe to say that your boy is on edge, but we won’t freak out! On the bright side, I’ve managed to find a new rug option, new sconces and even managed to get some surprise artwork framed just in time for the reveal (crosses fingers). But with all of that progress being made, I’m over here just trying to figure out how we’re going to celebrate the reveal and all of my hard work! Yes, I see a bottle of celebratory champagne in our near future!

Area Rug Selection

The moment I saw this rug, I knew it was the perfect way too add that much needed boldness to my space! Initially I had planned to bring in a texture rug with no bold print but every option seemed to blend into the carpet, and didn’t bring that wow factor the space needed. Yes, shopping for area rugs to place on top of carpet is a nightmare and I’m not looking forward to doing it again anytime soon!

Not only is the rug good looking, it was quite affordable. I found it on RUGS USA for under $200. But beware that the rug presents darker online than it is in person. Even though the color varied, it was the perfect price because you may already know, I can’t splurge on rugs for my house due to having dogs. They’re both housebroken but somehow, one of them continuously chooses to mark their territory! It’s so frustrating but hey, I’m stuck with her. LOL

Surprise Artwork

This piece was gifted to me a few months by artist Gee Horton. I attempted to get it framed and was quoted $1000 and quickly changed my mind. But I had an ah-ha moment when measuring the empty wall where I planned to place a piece of art and remembered I had this piece.

Instead of going back to the frame shop, I went to Michael’s and paid just under $300 to have it framed and it should be ready for pick-up very soon.

While I wait for the last pieces to arrive, I’ll be over here brainstorming content surrounding the room reveal next week. But in the meantime, I’m sure the progress of the other featured designers will keep you busy! All of their blogs are linked for you below.
